Sonic Nomads is an international sound art festival centred on the keywords “place, movement, listening”, proposing new ways of listening through field recording and sound art. Through the moving body, the changing place, and the sounds resonating within them, we question anew how we relate to the environments we inhabit. This festival is planned and curated by the sound artist team Transients (Yoon Ji-young, Cho Ye-bon, Kim Seok-jun), aiming to expand listening culture through dialogue with works and artists gathered from around the world.

The 2025 festival collaborates specifically with the <Listening Biennial>, bringing international listening discourse to Seoul. Held at TILT, Seoul's new immersive audio space, this festival emphasises that listening is not merely passive appreciation but a shared experience and artistic practice. ● From the Listening Lounge, where one freely moves in and out of the space; to Soundwalks, where one walks through places engaging directly with them; MakeLab workshops, where participants craft devices to capture sound; and experimental live performances presented by artists on stage—all programmes expand the act of ‘listening to sound’ in distinct ways.

Sonic Nomads transcends mere performance or exhibition. It is a journey to re-explore the relationships we form with each other, with the city, and with the environment through sound. Sonic Nomads 2025 opens new horizons of listening, guiding us into a world revealed only when we truly listen. We invite you to join us on this journey.

The RANGE Sound Festival returns from October 10 to 12, 2025, once again presenting a diverse spectrum of experimental music, sound art, performances, installations, and workshops. The festival is an amplifier of an emerging movement that has anchored sound art in Kassel over the past ten years and formed an active community of sound artists. The festival offers an open, inclusive experience for sound lovers and curious minds of all ages.

Der Ort zur Förderung junger bildender Künstler*innen ist eine alte Alsterschute, die direkt neben dem Museum Schwedenspeicher im historischen Hansehafen der Stadt liegt und als Wohnschiff umgebaut wurde.
Diesen besonderen Ort möchten wir nun für 2 Monate im Jahr Künstler*innen zum Wohnen und Arbeiten zur Verfügung stellen. Es soll zur Inspiration und Recherche dienen. Auf dem Schiff kann auch gearbeitet werden, es bietet vielfältige Möglichkeiten. Außerdem können in Absprache mit den Museen Stade die Werkstätten der Museen als Atelier mitgenutzt werden. Es gibt also vielfältige Möglichkeiten die 2 Monate in Stade zu gestalten. Inhaltlich macht das Stipendium keine engen Vorgaben, wobei wir uns natürlich darüber freuen, wenn aus der Arbeit heraus auch Bezüge zum Aufenthaltsort entstehen.

Sowohl ein Sprach‐ als auch Hör‐Rohr lädt “Now I can hear You” Besucher*innen der Kasseler Museumsnacht ein, sich gegenseitig genauer zuzuhören und/oder Gehör zu verschaffen.

Nicht‐elektrische Megafone sind seit ihrer Erfindung ein wichtiges Instrument in politischen und sozialen Bewegungen.

Sie wurden bei Protesten und Demonstrationen eingesetzt, beispielsweise im Kampf für das Frauenwahlrecht zu Beginn des letzten Jahrhunderts, für Gemeinschaftsorganisationen und werden auch heute noch verwendet, wenn elektrische Verstärkung gesetzlich verboten ist, wie im Fall von Occupy Wall Street im Jahr 2011.

Sie sind ein Instrument der Wirkung und Veränderung für diejenigen, die oft ungehört bleiben.

Cat Woywod (Pronomen: es/they) stellt Wahrnehmungsgewohnheiten mit Klang, Licht und zeitbasierten Medien in Frage.

Als freischaffende*r Künstler*in, Sounddesigner*in, Tontechniker*in und Drag Thing lebt und arbeitet es seit 2016 in Kassel.

Im Jahr 2023 wurde es mit dem „Kasseler Kunstpreis” für Intermediale Kunst der Dr. Wolfgang Zippel‐Stiftung ausgezeichnet, und ist bis 2026 Meisterschüler*in für „Klangkunst / Komposition” bei an der Hochschule für Musik, Johannes‐Gutenberg‐Universität Mainz.

Als Gründungsmitglied co‐organisiert Cat Woywod den „Konzept e.V.“ und das „RANGE Sound Festival.
